Meet AMH, hailing proudly from Indianapolis, Indiana. She is quick to clarify that Indianapolis is distinct from the rest of the state, emphasizing the unique character and energy found in her city. Her artistic journey began in 2012 when she embarked on a seven-month apprenticeship for body piercing. Equipped with the necessary skills, AMH soon became the lead piercer at Body Animation, a renowned studio. In February 2013, she seized the opportunity to further expand her artistic repertoire by starting a tattoo apprenticeship, which lasted an impressive five years until November 2018. Although the journey was long and demanding, AMH persevered, emerging as the talented artist she is today. The apprenticeship shaped her and molded her into the artist she had always aspired to be.
One unique aspect of AMH's apprenticeship was the ability to work simultaneously as a lead piercer and apprentice tattoo artist at the same studio. This arrangement allowed her to immerse herself in both crafts without the need to leave the comfort of her artistic sanctuary. As fate would have it, during her apprenticeship, the studio underwent a transformation, spearheaded by the studio owner and her mentor, Amani Tre Niner. The new studio, Animation Art Studio, became AMH's creative home, and she continued her journey there until November 2021. In January 2022, the keys to her own building were handed to her, marking the beginning of Brave Heart Art Studio, her very own business. The grand opening of Brave Heart Art Studio took place in August 2022, and AMH proudly assumed the roles of owner and operator.
Participating in the show proved to be a more emotional and enlightening experience than AMH had anticipated. The dynamics of living with fellow artists, initially strangers, taught her invaluable lessons about herself and the importance of effective communication. Each individual brought a unique background and perspective, leading to diverse ways of approaching situations. AMH recognized the significance of understanding and adapting to different communication styles, fostering unity and collaboration. Trusting the team, albeit a select few, was an arduous task for AMH, but the experience taught her to discern and categorize people according to their trustworthiness. Ultimately, her unwavering commitment to her morals and integrity served as a guiding light, demonstrating her unbreakable spirit.
Entering the house filled AMH with excitement, as she had always longed for a tight-knit community of brothers and sisters. However, she discovered that maintaining cleanliness, particularly when it came to the refrigerator and dishes, proved to be an ongoing challenge, adding a touch of humor to her experience.
With this newfound platform, AMH aspires to leave a lasting impact and serve as a representation for women, particularly black women, in the industry. She aims to showcase their power, skill, and resilience, dispelling the notion that her talent is limited to her gender. AMH is dedicated to continual growth in her craft, eagerly pursuing opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills. Her hunger for growth and desire to teach other artists someday further motivate her. Looking back, AMH confidently states that she wouldn't change a thing about her journey and experiences on the show. Every step and decision shaped her into the artist she is today.
As she looks toward the future, AMH's ambitions know no bounds. She plans to embrace all opportunities and turn up the heat in every aspect of her career. Her determination to make a mark, uplift her community, and demonstrate the power of hard work and dedication fuels her relentless pursuit of excellence.
